Starting Dru’s Notes

I tend to hate doing introductions, but I’ll start by explaining how this came to be. I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for at least two years now. Back in 2019, I wrote 100 Rules to Live By which got featured on Morning Brew, by Kevin Kelly and on the Founders podcast by David Senra. Those rules came from a “living document” that existed for several years before the 100 rules were posted and continued to evolve since then.

I’ve been working through a lot of internal stuff and objections to sharing more publicly. It’s not just about getting rid of previous beliefs but figuring out what feels authentic to me.

Some people I look to as inspiration for Dru’s Notes: I recently started listening to Howard Marks’ podcast where he goes through his memos. Seth Godin’s daily posts have been a big inspiration too. And there’s Alex West, who’s been doing great work with his blog.

Like any creative effort worth doing, this is meant to help me while hopefully helping others along the way. I learn and collect these lessons but rarely share them. This could be a compound lift – taking the things I’m already doing and bringing unity to them, while hopefully making new connections between ideas and meeting people along the way.

Where’s it going? We’ll see.
