The slog has levels.

Day one of a habit is an inertia problem. Day 89 is a boredom problem.

Picture the levels on a Fibonacci sequence: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89.

  • At Level 1, the boss is inertia. The fight is getting started.
  • At Level 5-8, the boss is resistance. The habit competes with hard days.
  • At Level 13+, the boss is boredom or burnout. The habit runs but the slog sets in.

Knowing your level tells you which boss you’re facing.

I track my habits as Fibonacci levels. The number gives the grind a shape: visible progress behind me and a named challenge in front.
