I have a backlog of 200+ rough blog post ideas. When I sit down to write today’s post, the idea is already there. I captured it weeks or months ago.
Coming up with an idea is one kind of work. Writing the post is another. Doing both in the same session is context switching.
With a backlog, I separate the two jobs. Ideas land whenever they land. I write on my own schedule. One job at a time.
The same habit works beyond writing. Problems are business ideas. When you run into one, write it down. Now you have a backlog of business ideas ready when you need one. Running into problems starts feeling good.
